We were up at 3.30am this morning, ready for our 4am pickup! We headed to the main road with the other people who were also waiting and by half 4 both the jeeps had arrived. We drove for about an hour in the dark in the most unroadworthy jeep I've ever seen!
Our first stop was the white sand dunes, where we waited until the sky had started to lighten so we could see where we were going. We were given the option to rent a quad bike which we decided to do! After being on motorbikes since being out here I thought this would be fine, but it was actually really uncomfortable and scary! However, it was pretty cool and meant we could see more of the dunes easily. After our 40 minutes were up we took the quad back and had a walk around taking in the rising sun, which was beautiful over the dunes. This place was the highlight of the trip and did mean the next few things were a bit disappointing!
Our next stop was the red sand dunes. This is were a smaller version of the ones we had just seen but with red sand instead! We climbed to the top of the first one but then sat and watched all the other tourists struggle through the sand to see the rest! After this we made a quick stop off at a fishing village, where we could see all the boats in the water and then the fishermen with their catches on the shore. Our final stop was somewhere called fairy stream where we were told there was a waterfall. We walked upstream through the river for 20 minutes before deciding there was no waterfall and turning back around!
We headed back to the hotel after this, arriving back before 9am! We had thought we would go back and sleep for a few hours, but feeling quite awake we went and got breakfast and spent another day by the pool! It's been lovely to have a few holiday type days to relax and catch up with ourselves.
We booked our bus to Ho Chi Minh for tomorrow morning, packed our stuff and had some food, before finishing our last night in Mui and with a few drinks with two couples we met on the trip this morning.
