Today we rented a motorbike and tried to see as much of Da Lat as we could!
We started by driving out to Linh Phouc pagoda. This was a really stunning place, the temples in Vietnam are nothing like any of the others in Asia. This one in particular had several different buildings, all covered in elaborate mosaic patterns. It was really beautiful and worth the trek out there. On our way back into town we also stopped at the railway station. This is supposed to be Vietnams first train station, which made it interesting although there wasn't much to see other than the original entrance and an example train. We could have taken a short train ride from there but decided to head back into town for food instead.
After eating we drove to Datanla waterfalls. At the entrance we could walk to where the first main fall is or we could buy an extra ticket for the toboggan run, which is what we chose to do! This was awesome and like the one at Vinpearl it was more like a mini rollarcoaster! Once we reached the bottom we took a walk around the first fall and then wandered a bit towards the others before taking the return toboggan back to the top. Our next stop was the cable car that would take us to Truc Lam pagoda. This was an incredible 20 minute journey across the forest ending in a walk around the pagoda and the lake there.
Our final stop after we had taken the return cable car was somewhere called the crazy house. This is a hotel that is open to the public to see this strange place! It's hard to explain it, but it is basically a building that doesn't make sense, with staircases climbing up over the top of the roofs and a maze of corridors winding everywhere. It was a bit of a tacky tourist attraction but really cool to see!
We headed back to the same restaurant we ate at last night for another lovely meal before taking a walk around the night market that seemed to pop up from nowhere. We have a bus at 7am tomorrow so are now back trying to finish packing so we are ready!
