Today we finally visited St Andrews! I just loved the town, with it's beautiful old buildings, fresh sea air and green everywhere. It's my kind of place and we had a great time exploring the town, the University and the old ruins of the castle and cathedral. We walked through the main part of St Andrews University and spotted Prince William's university residence/halls that he stayed in during his first year. Like the rest of the town, the buildings are beautiful and old and I understand the appeal.
We then drove around the Fife coast, ending up in Anstruther for the much anticipated fish and chips. It's a small fishing village and popular holiday destination so we knew the fish would be very fresh unlike other parts of the UK. We weren't disappointed by our "fish supper" from the appropriately Scottish "The Wee Chippy" - a great name in our opinion! And despite the wind and rain the sun was kind enough to appear for our time in Anstruther and the drive home - the countryside really does look spectacular in the sunshine.
It's been a truly wonderful week with Geoff and Marjorie and we'll be sad to leave tomorrow when we head to Edinburgh for the weekend.

Jenny Tom looks like he's enjoying the best fish and chips in Scotland!
Lauren He most certainly was! He's always asking about what the next meal is and I think the Fish and Chips were the highlight of the day for him!
