We arrived in Kalambaka after an eventful day of bus travel, with many many bus changes and ending up with Ed leaving his jumper on one of them!
On arriving in Kalambaka we got our first look at the hills of Meteora. They look truly amazing! It's a hard thing to explain but they are a breathtaking sight to see! And for those who don't know, Meteora is a mountain range were multiple monasteries have been built in precarious locations and before the monasteries were built, many monks simply lived in caves!
In the morning we went up on the bus to the Great Meteoro Monastery which is the biggest monastery in the area and it was also the first built. It was a really nice place with a beautifully decorated church and fantastic views across the area! We then continued on across the mountain range, past many monasteries and simply enjoying the views and the walk. We eventually ended up at the Monastery of St Stephen. It is situated over Kalambaka and has many sections blocked off as it is more in use than the Great Meteoro. We then descended through a valley to emerge on the outskirts of Kalambaka. In the afternoon Ed headed off to Thessaloniki, leaving me to continue on my own through more of Greece.
