it was a bit touch and go as to whether we would be able to leave Queenstown due to all the snow that had fallen but we managed to make it out and arrived in Dunedin. Dunedin is known as little Edinburgh and there are a lot of the same street names and they are big on their Scottish heritage.
i met two girls on the bus and we were in the same hostel so that afternoon we decided to go on the Cadbury tour. it was not worth it because it was a saturday. at the weekends you pay $10 because you dont go into the manufacturing part of the factory because there is nothing going on. you basically watch a video of chocolate being made and then watch a ton of chocolate being dropped from the ceiling which they recycle up to a year before throwing away. the tour guide told you a bit but she mainly slagged off Australian chocolate which is fair but then said NZ cadbury is best in the world which isnt quite true considering its an English product and also cadburys is not the best chocolate in the world. also the only freebies you get is two fun sized crunchies, a chocolate marshmallow fish and a chocolate banana thing that was quite disgusting. the tour is not worth doing on a weekend. that evening we just chilled out and went to the cinema.
the next day i was meant to be going on a penguin tour but decided not to go as it was raining and you have to sit on a beach for hours. also some girls went a day before and they said it was really muddy and everybody was slipping over so i decided it wasnt for me. instead we went to the train station (the picture used for this blog). it was quite nice architecture and pretty grand for a train station. that evening we went out to the pub but as it was a sunday it was dead. the next day i headed to Lake Tekapo.
