I took the ordinary bus from Soppong to Mae Hong Son. I won't say big mistake, because to my knowledge there is no other choice, but it was so uncomfortable! I can't claim to be a very tall person and yet my legs did not fit, even a little. So I spent the whole 4 hours sprawled across two seats with my legs in the aisle, feet up which is considered rude in Thailand, but you would have done the same thing.

Mae Hong Son is... well boring. Anything of interest is under construction. It is basically a tiny lake surrounded by mountains with concrete in between the two... The only mildly exciting thing was a night market which closed early both nights I was there because of thunderstorms. Sooo I read a lot!

I did rent a bike though, and rode a little way up into the mountains as a storm was brewing, it was beautiful I'll admit. But that was basically it!
