Well...considering the last thing I worte last time was about how much I was never getting on a motorbike my resolve didn't last very long. It was the cheapest way to get around and I made Lawrence promise to go very slowly while I clung on the back of him crying. Not really, but a little bit. We moved bingalows to a different place in Lonely Beach (as we've figured by now the best way to get a clean room is to move!) and we're just sitting in the room playing cards on the first night when an enormous cockroach appeared out of nowhere closely followed by his friend. Thanks to Lawrence's "manly" skills with a can of deodorant and a shoe they didn't last long. In spite of saying we we're moving the next morning after the cockroach incident we ended up staying for a few days and in the end it was the mosquitos that drove us out. They love me, I'm like mosquito bait even with deet. The only night I wasn't eaten alive by them was after a night of drinking which I think teaches us that we should be permenantly drunk to avoid mosquitos.
After being slightly allergic to a few bites we decided to splash out and spend up to 5 pounds each a night on accommodation and we were truely living in luxury for a few days; air conditioning, beds with sheets, towels, hot water AND a toilet that flushed. ooh and a TV that had lots of english films on!
We then decided that having spent two weeks in Koh Chang to move on so yesterday we made the journey to Koh Samet. I think I preferred Koh Chang as everything seems to be a lot more touristy and everything is a bit more expensive. However, the weather is beautiful. On the way here we got talking to a couple of Americans, Flo and Jessie and as it was Flo's birthday we went out for dinner with them last night. Today, they asked us if we wanted to go for a wander and we ended up hiking aroud Koh Samet. And as much as i know this is going to appall my dad, I was in flipflops!! But it was really lovely even if i do now see his point about sensible footwear.
We're here now until Thursday when we're heading over to Pattaya. They say its only meant to take an hour to get there but a three hour jorney to get here yesterday took from 10:30 am until about 6 in the evening!! After that we're finally heading to Kanchanaburi for the tiger temple/death railway/floating market malarki we were meant to have done ages ago!!
