We were up early today as we had to be at the travel agency at 7am to catch our bus. However, when we got there we were told we had been moved to the 8am bus which would get us there quicker (?), so we left our bags while we went for some breakfast and went back at 7:45 as told. After a lot of waiting around we were led to a road with a lot of buses and were eventually shown onto one of them after asking about 5 different people, none of whom seemed to know what to do with us!
We eventually left Saigon around 9am and spent a lot of time stuck in traffic as everyone seemed to be leaving the city for the Victory Day holiday weekend. We got chatting to a girl next to us on the bus who was from Penrith. She's going to Cambodia next so we passed on our tips and she told us about the places she's been to here. The bus journey was very long and we eventually arrived in Nha Trang around 8pm.
We had no clue where we were so got into a taxi wiht the other girl and got out at her hostel which was just up the road from our hotel. We'd just started walking up the street when Dave realised he didn't have his little bag and it must still be in the taxi... and in it is our laptop and kindle...
We walked back to the bar and spoke to the staff who were very helpful and rang around some taxi companies for us. We didn't know which company our taxi was from, just that it was a small, white car! They didn't find anything out from their phonecalls but said if we go back tomorrow the manager can show us the CCTV footage and we can see which taxi it was.
We went to check-in at our hotel up the road adn were shown to our lovely room. We told the guy there what had happened and he immediately took Dave out on his motorbike to try and find the taxi. Unfortunatlely, they couldn't find it so we'll have to wait and see what happens when we see the CCTV footage.
We went back to the bar and found the girl who we'd got the taxi with but she didn't remember anything about the taxi either. Never mind, we're just glad it wasn't our passports or money. We stayed for some food at the bar and got a free bucket of cocktail with our main meals - good deal!
When we got back to the hotel we went over the whole story with our hotel manager who was also very friendly and helpful. Hopefully we'll get it back tomorrow...fingers crossed...
