Today Dave woke up feeling unwell, he'd been awake in the night with a fever. We decided to go and find somewhere to eat, but had a bit of trouble as most places were closed. We think a lot of places close on Mondays and Tuesdays, after the crazy Friday-Sunday markets. We eventually found a little café that was open and shared some fried rice and spring rolls. Dave was feeling really bad so he went back to the guesthouse while I went in search of a supermarket to buy us a new diary and some water for Dave.
We spent the rest of the afternoon in the dorm - Dave sleeping and me reading and playing on the laptop. Alan from the guesthouse was really ncie and kept coming up to check on Dave. We're both glad we're in a nice small friendly place while he's ill, rather than somewhere big and anonymous.
In the evening some of the others were planning to go out for some Indian food so I joined them by myself. At about 7pm, I joined Arianne, Kate, Justin, Yanky, Laura, Bart from Holland and a French girl and Italian guy (didn't learn their names!) and we all walked to an Indian café over the river. I had my meal of rice and vegetable side dishes served on a banana leaf, with a garlic naan - cooked fresh in front of us in a big oven that looked like a pumpkin, and a banana lassi (a kind of milkshake with yoghurt in). The food was delicious and of course very cheap! I got Dave a cheess naan to takeaway so he didn't miss out completely!
On the way back I stopped at a shop to get more water and Arianne and I bought some Malaysian biscuits and desserts to share with everyone. Dave ate his naan down in the lounge area with everyone else but was still feeling really bad so we both went to bed quite early. I booked us an extra night here to give Dave some time to recover, and because we really like it here! Hopefully he'll feel better tomorrow.
