After breakfast we drove in to town and parked up at the museum, it was freezing and raining so we were glad to be doing something indoors! The museum was actually really cool, it had loads of interactive parts, it had sections about animals native to New Zealand and ones that are now extinct. It had a section about the earths core and how countries used to all be connected but over centuries and millenniums the countries have broken apart to how we know the planet now. It also had sections on earthquakes and tsunamis and they had a room which simulated an earthquake! They also had rooms about Maori and the entire museum was built around a traditional Maori building! There were so many other exhibitions we didn't get chance to see everything! When we left the museum we were both quite hungry, we'd nipped out at lunch time rather than eat in the museum cafe and got a delicious slice of pizza from a street stall but we were now ready for some tea. We went to the Irish bar on Cuba Street and they had an offer on for Wednesdays, a 500g rump steak with chips and coleslaw for $15! It was so huge, Adam said it was like a man versus food challenge. Neither of us could finish it!! Once we'd eaten and watched some more Olympics we went and booked our ferry for tomorrow to get to the south island. The ferry is so expensive, it was $360 and Adam is sure that when he came with Aaron they only paid about $50... We pottered around for a while waiting for Sunshine to let us know her address so we could head to hers, we went to a bar and had a drink and then headed to Sunshines about 10ish. As we found in New Plymouth, New Zealanders don't go out until late so we had a few drinks at Sunshines and then headed out. We went to a few bars which were ok. The first one had a young lad playing guitar who was ok. The rest of the bars played crap music really and this guy we walked passed in the street followed us wanting to buy Sunshine a drink but she wasn't interested. In about the 4th or so bar we went to Sunshine all of a sudden went from happily drunk to absolutely steaming so we called it a night and went back to her house. In the taxi Sunshine kept trying to call a guy she liked but it went to his voicemail and she kept making us all say hello to the answer machine, it was really funny just because of how cringy it will be in the morning, whilst leaving the message she dropped her phone on the floor and couldn't find it so the message kept recording the whole taxi ride. When we pulled up outside Sunshine's house she left her shoes and stuff in the taxi so the taxi driver and I had a look around to make sure we had everything. One of the things I picked up was what we thought was Sunshine's passport but it turned out to be a fake passport! She said we were fine to stay in her room rather than in the camper which was nice especially as it was so cold out!!
