8th October
After an early start yesterday we had a lie in and brunch in a little cafe, then walked around the town. Like Uyuni, there was nothing to do in the town but it was much prettier and welcoming so we enjoyed just wondering around, sitting in the square and then sunbathing back at the hotel - enjoying the first hot weather since Mancora!
In the afternoon nearly all of us went for a valley if the moon tour. We started in some salt caves and then climbed up to a view point to see 'the valley of the moon' - rocky landscape half covered in salt, half covered in sand. We then saw the three Mary's who are now the 2 Mary's as a tourist recently broke one of the Mary's taking a selfie! Then walked back from there through the valley. The bus then drove us to *** to watch the sunset where we could see San Pedro and the Andean mountains changing colour as the sun set. It was a beautiful sunset with the clouds after changing from yellow, to red, to green and black.
When we got back it took us a while to find somewhere to eat because the football was on, everywhere was packed. Finally we found a restaurant and watched most of the Chile vs Argentina game. As soon as we left the restaurant Chile scored, the town went crazy. And then again just before we got back to the hotel!
