We woke up early (6.30) so that we could increase our chances of spotting a cassowary on our 3.5 km walk- we didn't succeed (I think it was too steep for a cassowary to live) but it was enjoyable reminiscing about all our NFE's (New Food Experience for all you non-Lindsey Barkers amongst you) since our travels began.
After that we started to drive down to Townsville, and passed several signs for 'Driver Reviver' stops that promised you a free beverage for drivers if it was open- a bit of a fad since none of them were but a good idea all the same.
Our intentions were to go to Townsville to pick up some shopping (I need some new flip flops and Alice needs a bag) but we didn't know where to go so stopped to park near the Information office. We went to ask in a mechanic shop what the 'P', '1P', '2P', etc signs meant (1P= 1 hours free parking) but they said we could park in the driveway next door because it was an abandoned house. They also told us about a place where they reckoned we could stay for free. Instead of going shopping, we ended up getting information about Whitsundays and called up Ezzy to see what deal she could get us. One of the trips she recommended was 'Silent Night'; "because there is another boat that's more of a party boat which I know wouldn't suit you guys". Needless to say, we went with the Information Office's offer- $360 each for 2 days and 2 nights on 'Adventurer' Explore Whitsundays boat.
Outside the office was free Wi-Fi so we checked up on emails and Facebook and then went to the post office so Alice could get some passport photos done and sent off for her OT application.
We went to the place where the mechanics recommended to us and cooked our dinner and then braved a brief cold and door-less shower. After chilling out there we decided it may be a bit safer to stay in a residential road.
