It was really nice of the Indian guy in our room to offer us a lift to the airport, and I felt bad that Alice woke him up at 6, given that he normally works and had last night off so went out for it. When we got to the airport, there was a place you could check in outside, and he printed off our boarding passes, but said something about how he would have to charge us for baggage, but if we went inside we wouldn't have to pay. When we got to the desk, the guy said the same thing, and that we should go talk to the man who was looking after the check in machines, but when we got first in the queue, he said we would have to pay, which because I was so tired (I didn't manage to get to sleep at all last night) I got a bit angry at him, as it seemed weird that they kept saying we wouldn't have to, and then we did.
I got a Philly steak burger, because I had seen a lot of adverts for Philly steak but didn't think I'd enjoy the steak part too much, but then when we got to our gate there seemed to be a lot better food outlets.
I tried sleeping on the plane but was unsuccessful, and then when we landed in Houston, we made the most of our hour in Texas by getting a corn bread muffin (which I had read about in the Lonely Planet, despite it being more of a Louisiana thing) and me and Alice shared a bean burrito, which came with free nachos and salsa.
The person who had been on the onwards plane before me had kindly left me with a magazine to read, and then when we landed in New Orleans, we caught the E2 bus to the centre and then had to wait another 25 minutes for the 91 bus, because the first one that came by didn't stop for us.
After getting a well needed shower in (New Orleans was very humid), we went for a quick shop in Wal-Mart, although we were a bit intimidated on our walk there, so we didn't want to have a proper look round so that we wouldn't have to walk back in the dark. It was so big that I found it a bit daunting!
