We did set our alarms for 6.20 to get up for 7am yoga, but 'our colds were still too bad' - honest! AT about 8, our phone went off- it was one of the boys as we had arranged to meet them at 10 after yoga but because their friend had told them we weren't at yoga they thought we'd be up earlier to meet them before 10! We had an American breakfast again with fruit salad and I had an omellette instead of scrambled eggs. Leaving our bags in the hotel computer room (worrying a bit at doing so) we went outside to meet the boys who rang the yoga teacher (we didn't know we could have such an impromptu session!). The yoga was good but I felt a bit silly when we had to Ohm (it's not quite singing but I'm pretty sure I'm still awful at it!). The reception man at the hotel also worked at an Indian restaurant in Guernsey. After the session, we exchanged emails and he gave us a book that had photos of him in different painful looking positions- he showed us a few in person!
Then we walked to the old village to the monkey temple where a holy man lives. He is supposedly 110, but looks about 50, he sleeps standing up and has dreadlocks (which were wrapped up in a bun) and two beard sections. He kind of reminded me of an indian Jack Sparrow! He read our palms and said that I would have lots of money and 1 marriage. I don't think I'm going to live too long as he wouldn't tell me about my lifeline. The boys did their usual long lectures to us, not giving us much opportunity to speak, and chatting voer each other so it was even harder to stay focused on what they were saying, and then said we were quiet! Me and Alice had to go for a wee behind some houses and some cows came over to have a look. When we got back to the temple, the holy man has said he wanted to make us a mantra- a necklace type thing that has lots of secrets about you, like what you were incarnated from to become a human. However, when we got to the shop, the cost of everything needed was about 50 pounds for two, so I declined the offer but Alice still wanted one. The shop was going to give all the stuff to the holy man (he could only start it after sunset, and it would take a couple of hours to do), so we went to the hotel to get our christmas pressies to send home. We thought we'd be able to buy boxes to packl them in there, but they said to get them from the market. We had a coffee at Blue SKy and then went to an internet cafe.
For dinner, we both had a masala dosa (kind of like a pancake made from rice and lentils, and stuffed with spiced potato, and served with vegatable broth) which was very nice. Alice had chocolate sauce and waffles and I had banana wrapped in chappatti. We had to rush to the Ganesh Restaurant to meet the boys (they had specifically said 8 means 8, not half 8, not 9) and got there at 10 past. They got me some shoe boxes from a market stall to pack my presents in, and then we went back to the temple, and sat in another part. The babaji (holy man) lit some incense and waved Alice's mantra around it- she has to wait a week before she can wear it and has to have a shower then burn some incense. He gave us an indian sweet which was a ball shaped crumbly thing.
We got back to the hotel and got ready for the train. The boys came in the tuk-tuk to the train station and we were talking about English phrases like sick, oh my days and so's your mum- one of them thought if you were a girl you said 'so's your dad'.
We boarded the train and quite liked this sort of travel. We were in 3 A/C which means it's air conditioned and theres 3 beds on one side of a wall, so sitting up was hard, but sleeping on our bags to stop people nicking them wasn't too bad!

G'Pa I think I shall be relieved when you get to thailand away from all these holy men who seem only to want to sell you things at extortionate prices, Am enjoying your accounts very much. As you have maintained the Burr tradition of recording detaills of your meals, can I just say that we have all enjoyed a lovely Christmas with all the usual foods - Turkey, roast potatoes and parsnips, sprouts, pigs in blankets,Mum's famous stuffing balls, delicipus gravy made by Oliiver, cranberry sauce, etc, etc. Naturally we toasted you with champagne !
