Hey everyone
We arrived in Rotorua today, but haven't got much to report as of yet. However we realised that the last journal entry from Paihia left out lots of funny moments. So thought we'd better fill you in.
Firstly we forgot to tell you that we experienced 3 earthquakes while in Auckland on the second day. Each measured about 4 on the Richter scale, so were quite mild, although still very exciting.
Our journey back from Paihia was very amusing. Sam was driving for the first half when the funniness occured! First off on our way down a really steep windy mountain road we got stuck behind a caravan doing about 10km an hour, for some reason this was absolutely hilarious and we were crying with laughter, with Sam saying, 'stop, i'm trying to laugh, trying to drive and trying to breathe' which obviously made it all the more funny. Having survived that episode we were nearly run off the road by an old biddy trying to overtake us, the only problem was that there was a caravan right in front of us and a car coming the other way, we headed to the side of the road in order to avoid collision! Sam stayed very composed while driving - Thank God!!!
We also forgot to mention that we stopped off at Kelly Tarltons aquarium in Auckland where we saw all the sharks, stingrays and fishes (including Nemo and Dory!!!). The highlight was the penguin trip. The aquarium creates an antarctic environment to house the penguins, we went round it on little seacats so you could see them both underwater swimming and on the ice. They were so close you could almost touch them. They look like statues, although they do like to perform for the seacats coming round. After the penguins there is another room to travel through on the seacats, here we had the shock of our lives when a killer whale (plastic) jumped out of the water with a seal in its mouth, as you can imagine we all screamed and jumped back before realising that it was fake!!! Oops!! This caused yet another bout of hysterical laughter! With tears streaming down our face - luckily this is all captured on Sam's video camera! As we were in a car by ourselves we assumed no one else would know, however that was not the case because as we left the seacat the attendent commented on how hilarious that had been!!!!!
Think that's all we forgot, Will update about Rotorua in the next few days and hopefully some pictures too.
