We arrived back in Miami and headed straight to Collins Avenue again, where we were staying slightly further north on Miami Beach, in (thankfully)a nicer hostel. It was basically a hotel where we had our own room with our own kitchen and bathroom, which was so brilliant after so long sharing everything. Our time in Miami was so relaxing we spent a lot of time just chilling out and we were so close to the beach, just across the road.
Luckily for us we arrived in Miami during hurricane season so there was a bit of rain some days to contend with - more about that later!! We did experience storm Barry on our first day where there was a huge thunder and lightening storm. Sam and Lau weren't pleased!
We spent a day in Downtown where there is a bayside area that is full of shops, restaurants and coffee shops right on the waterfront where you can chill out watching all the boats and yachts go by. We also wandered through the parkland on the bayside which has statues doted throughout it.
The 'highlight' of the week was when we took the bus to the shopping centre. It took about an hour to get there and when we arrived we were suprised to see a shopping mall that looked quite similar to Bluewater - home away from home!!! After wandering around the shops doing some window shopping we set off back outside to the bus stop. Unfortunately it was tipping it down and when the bus finally arrived after 20 minutes wait we were all soaked through. We actually had to ring our clothes out when we arrived back to our room. This was even after a woman at the bus stop shared her umbrella with us for some of the time. Needless to say we were going to get ill, and yes, the next day Sam was sneezing. These sneezes progressed into a full on cold and sore throat. Which Fi now has as well. So far, touch wood, i haven't got it yet. Fingers crossed it stays that way.
We were also pleased to finally find a proper supermarket. We celebrated this by cooking lots of delicious meals including lasagna and steak - yummy!!!
Will update about Washington soon!
