It took only three flights to reach our final destination of Krabi, Thailand. Finally Thailand! On our drive to Ao Nang from the tiny two terminal airport, we had our first glimpses of the dramatic limestone cliffs that this area of Thailand is known so well for.
Nearing 4pm, we hurried to check-in and walk down to the beach for sunset. The weather here was much cooler than in Vietnam, albeit still hot!
Strolling around downtown, we compared the many islands, beaches and activities that were at our fingertips for the days to come. The shops seemed to have souvenirs from all of the country's that we've visited so far. As they say here... "Same Same but Different!"
Nearing the end of the main street, we spotted many locals sitting down for dinner at a casual restaurant and knew we found the place to have our first legit Thai meal. After many years of seeking out this country's dishes, it was so awesome to try Pad Thai, Tom Yum and Pa Naeng Curry where it originated. Dinner was delicious but after trying a street vendor's desserts (very eggy custard cakes), the jury is still out on Thailand's sweets.
On the way home we spoke with a very helpful travel agent and came up with a game plan for the next day. Our first group tour of the trip was scheduled!
