We flew from Rio to Manaus and were picked up from the airport from the tour agency we were going to do our Amazon tour with. It was too early to check in to the hostel so we dropped off our bags and then headed into town, we got some food from the supermarket and Kerry bought a rucksack. When we got back to the hostel we were able to check in, we chilled for a bit and then we went out for dinner and a recommended fish restaurant, it was okay but was not as good as we were expecting!
The next morning we got up early, checked out and went to the tour agency shop. We ended up waiting for over an hour as the two Chinese girls that were supposed to be joining us had overslept and were running late! Finally an hour later we were on our way we took a minivan to the harbour, where we looked around the fish market and then we got a boat across the river, saw the meeting of the rivers and then got a bus and then a jeep and then another boat to get to our lodge. We had a lovely lunch and then set off piranha fishing, I caught 3 and 2 of them were big enough to keep and our guide was going to cook them for our dinner. We came back and chilled and then had dinner then after dinner we did a night boat ride to go alligator spotting, we saw quite a few and then our guide caught one and brought it onto the boat for us to see! We came back showered in the horrible toilet block and then went to bed!
The next day we woke up at 6.30am was very early! But I had fallen asleep at like 9.45 the night before! Got up and had breakfast and then we went on a 3 hour jungle hike. We saw poisonous frogs, killer ants, tarantulas and loads of other bugs! The guide caught a tarantula and tied a string around it and we all got to hold the string and have pictures and then we set it free! I was so so scared and nearly cried but I'm glad I did it! The other group also caught a poisonous snake so we had a look at that when we came back for lunch! After lunch the rest of our group went off to the jungle to spend the night there as they were on a longer tour and we went on another boat tour to find Dolphins! It was really grey and a storm started, so we had to take shelter at an abandoned floating house and then we went to the guides friends house for a bit to wait out the storm! When the rain finally started to settle we headed back into the Amazon river on the boat, and we got to see pink and grey Dolphins! It was amazing! We saw loads of parrots and other birds in the sky too! We came back for dinner and then chilled in the evening, had a drink and played cards with some of the other groups that were here.
On the last morning we went on another boat ride to see wildlife but didn't see as much this time! Quite a few eagles and other birds and then also got to see a sloth but he was so high up in the trees, it was still good to see, they are so cute! We went back to the lodge for lunch and then started our journey back to Manaus at 2pm.
We spent the next two days in Manaus just chilling, we went into the town and visited the Opera House to watch a show but apart from that there wasn't much else to do! We left for Peru on the 24th.
