The bus took around 4 and a half hours to get to Paraty and they were surprisingly very nice. Big coaches with great aircon! We got to Paraty on the Tuesday at around 5pm. We went for an early dinner along the river, booked a boat tour for the next day and went to bed earlyish.
we got up early the next day and walked around the historical town for a bit and then we continued on to the docks where we were to catch our boat for the day. We finally found is after walking past so many boats and the boat left the harbour at 11am. The whole day was incredible, we stopped at 3 islands and 2 beaches and the water and sand were amazing! White sand and crystal clear waters! At one of the stops it was known as a 'natural aquarium' and the amount of fish there were unreal! The weather was great too, very hot and there was a guy who played the guitar and sang whilst we were sailing around, he was so good! The boat returned to Paraty at around 4pm. We had dinner at a Thai restaurant that was recommended and the food was so so good! We both had Thai green chicken curry. When we got back to the hostel the Australian boys in our room invited us to play cards with them. They taught as a card game we had never heard of before but was really fun! Later on we went to a reggae bar with them for a few drinks and to play pool!
The next day (Thursday) it was stormy and we went on a jeep tour to the rainforest to see the waterfalls! It was a great day to do it as it didn't matter that it was raining! We went to four waterfalls and got to swim in them all, if was so refreshing! We also visited two distilleries and learnt how the local alcohol 'cachaca' is made and got to taste some too! We had lunch at the top of the rainforest right in the treetops at a place called tarzans restaurant! It was amazing!
On the Friday we had to check out of our dorm room and then we checked into a private room. After doing this we headed to the beach for the rest of the day! In the evening we cooked dinner at the hostel to save some money!
The next day we checked out the hostel at 6.30am so that we could catch our bus to São Paulo.
