Today we arrived in Mildura. We stop at the big solar panels, they were enormous. Then we went to Red Cliffs to look at Big Lizzie, that was enormous too. We set up camp near Merbien at Horseshoe Bend, right next to the Murray river. We went in to the Gateway Tavern for dinner. I had a big bowl of sea food and chips. Charlotte and Ethan had a big bowl of spaghetti bolognase ( or as Ethan says busgetti bolognase. )
On Thursday we went to lock 11. We saw the lock in action. It has 2 gates at each end, one end opens tolet the water level lower so a boat can go in. Then that gate closes and the other gate opens and the boat is lifted up as the water comes in. When it is at the right level the boat can go through. We also looked at the wier wall which is the reason why they use the locks.
On Friday we didn't do much, but fish, play in the bush and dad blew up the boat and we played in the river. I also chased after Ethan when he was in the boat, I swam out using a noodle, because of the river current.
On Saturday we rode our bikes while mum and dad packed up ready for our next stop, a caravan park at Broken Hill. Yay! A shower, proper toilets and electricity!
