Day 65 Adelaide
Woke early again to another beautiful sunny day; it's a bit difficult to see it through our grimy windows but know it's out there. Adelaide is hosting a four day Clipsal 500 V8 supercar road race around the city's roads starting tomorrow. As we leave on Friday very early we only have Thursday to visit, so that's tomorrow taken care of if we go. They were setting up a promotional area in Rundle Mall this morning but nowhere could we get any info of what was going to be on tomorrow and whether it is worth just going on day one so we walked over to the race track in the hope there might be an information bureau over there. No such luck, we walked through the area which is about the same size as a grand prix track unchallenged but left as we arrived none the wiser. We were just walking back out past the closed ticket office when we met an Aussie who had just flown in from Brisbane for the event and he said it was worth going even on the first day as there would be races and qualifying plus twilight racing so this is what we will do. Back in Rundle Mall the promo was well underway complete with the obligatory bevy of scantily clad beauties which Bill enjoyed, several race cars which Bill enjoyed and a group of the drivers who were signing autographs which I would have enjoyed had I they been F1 drivers that I were familiar with. I did get excited for a while when they announced David Coulthard but it unfortunately it wasn't the David Coulthard that we know! Went from there back to Glenelg on the tram and found an Oyster Bar for a lovely lunch of a doz Oysters Fitzpatrick with some shoestring fries. There is something wonderful about have seafood at the beachside restaurant in the sun. From there a swim in the warm clear and calm water and then a good couple of hours of soaking up the sun. This is yet another place that I will be sorry to leave...
