Day 64 Adelaide
Two sunny days on the trot - must be a record, at least since we left Fiji. I am ecstatic, off to the beach to top up the tan. We took the Tram at the end of the Rundle Mall and 30 minutes later we are on the sand at a place called Glenelg. What a fab place, the beach is fine pale gold sand, wonderfully clean just at the end of their high street where the tram stops; they certainly are blessed with fantastic beaches over here. Bill went off for a walk after his swim, he is never one for staying still on the beach for long whilst I just sunbathed and read my book. We both had a bit of a wander later around the town, clearly an expensive area judging by the flats and boats in the marina, but awash with beachside restaurants so we will definitely be returning. The plan was that we would eat there tonight but we suddenly remembered that we still had to return the keys for the hire car. The car had been dropped off yesterday but as the office was closed for the Bank Holiday, (they take these very seriously here and very little is open unlike the UK), we had to wait until today to give the keys back: consequently we had to find somewhere here in the city. As luck would have it though, whilst we were walking back from the river where we had stopped for a beer we passed the casino where they have several dining opportunities; knowing that the meals are generally good at the casinos back home and in the States we thought we'd check it out and true to form it was very good indeed. Forgive me if this log is rather rambling tonight but Bill has got me very drunk tonight. He was mixing our usual drinks, G&T for me and Gin & Orange for him. He had put the gin into an empty tonic bottle for travelling and yes you've guessed it, he poured my drink out of the wrong bottle, I had virtually all gin and a very small tonic and he ended up with an orange and tonic; even when I said it was strong he didn't twig until he actually tasted it and realised! Of course by then I had drunk half of it! Anyway he is doing the ironing now as I write this as I'm not in any fit state to be in charge of an iron so bit of a result eh……
