Continuing on our road trip after a fantastic time in Metung we headed to a little place called Lakes Entrance, absolutely deserted but a beautiful esplande and a quick wee stop and visit to the camera shop as Anji's camera decided to stop working - sadly it has died and she need a new one. We then headed inland and up Mount Hotham -god knows why but Anj felt we needed to see the snow on top - it must be because I showed her the pictures of the snow we had at home this winter. Any way as we drove up the mountain road the views were amazing but the temperature got lower and lwoer and we reached 3 degrees, and the ice warning came on on ~Anjis car - scary stuff going on now. We reached the top and saw all the ski lifts but sadly it was so cloudy we could see the ski's slopes. I declined the offer of a ski lesson and decided to wait for my surf lessons with Murray or Murphy as he has now become known.
From Mount Hotham we headed down towards Beechworth which is a famous little town which was the home of the gold rush and it has a very famous bakery run by a man called Tom O'Toole - I have bought his book as it is a very inspirational read and thought it may give me a few new motivational ideas -look out girls!!!!!!!
From Beechworth following one hell of a feast at the bakery - we then headed to Bright and found another little motel to stay for the night - this one turned out to be a bit like pyscho ville and the man in the office somewhat spooked us and the carpet in the room shall we say needed a bit of a clean up but hey ho that life on a road trip and we did try the backpackers Youth hostel but Sian & Anj point blank refused to stay there - I don't know they really aren't getting this road trip around OZ properly you know!!!!!!!!!
Bright is one of the most beautiful places you can imagine - it is a sleepy little town lined with Maple trees and the colours were amazing as its now Autumn here in OZ - after settling in to the motel we asked how near the nearest pub was - as you do !!! the psycho man told us 8-10 minutes walkabout in that direction -so off we set thinking a nice evening stroll followed by a nice meal would do us grand - WELL after what seemed like a ten mile hike through the outback we eventually reached the town and found the pub - with a difference it had pokies, and a tab as well as beer and food - for those of you that don't know what that is pokies - are like a little casino and tab is like a betting shop - certainly different from the Kings head, so we had a nice chicken parmigiana and a few tinnies and then a ten mile hike home again but at least we were laughing on the way home................
