Gunlom - Today we drove to Gunlom on a red dirt bumpy road. Gunlom is in Kakadu National Park. We swam all afternoon in a waterhole at the bottom of a waterfall. Then Will, Dad and Jack walked up to the waterfall and we talked to them from the walkie talkies. When we could see them at the top Mum and I went back to the caravan and made 'happy hour' while we waited for the boys. After tea we played Penny on the Queen.
Did you know that Kakadu is the biggest national park in Australia?
Today we got further into Kakadu and watched heaps of crocs in the river at Cahills crossing. We then went to see very old aboriginal rock paintings at Ubirr rock. Some of the paintings were WARNING! stories. Lots of the paintings were animals such as wallabies, emus and turtles. We got to see a painting of a Tasmanian tiger which is now an extinct animal. After that we got to climb up on top of rocks to watch the sunset. When we got there we saw a buffalo and we could see a fire off in the distance. Also, Dad set a time lapse so that we could watch the sunset going fast, but his phone went flat just before the sun set. When the sun set we drove back to the caravan and it took one hour.
The next day we saw more paintings at Nourlangie. There were special paintings of people. We walked up to a rock where we could look out across the plains to another rock called the Lightning Rock because it always gets struck by lightning. Also we got to see a shelter were the Aboriginals lived for 20,000 years and still lived in 1981. In the afternoon we went on a river cruise where we saw lots of crocs and birds such as eagles, Jesus birds and Jabirus. When we were driving back we got to see the sunset. We saw lots of wild pigs, buffalo and brumbies off in the distance. We had tea that night at a restaurant.

Nannette and Poppy Den I saw on Facebook a video of the crocs at Cahills crossing. You were lucky to see them in the wild. All the rock paintings would be great to see too. You will have to tell me of some of the warnings that were depicted in the paintings.
