We briefly left Germany for the time being to hop over to the Czech Republic to visit the much-anticipated city of Prague. Many held high expectations for Prague & didn't start too well, with many getting scammed in the conversion of currency from Euros to Czech Koruna. Only moments getting over this we decided to sit down & eat dinner, where we were again taken on a tourist-ride with our bill, getting charged 6euro for a 250ml bottle of water (twice what a 0.5L of beer was worth, figure that out?), as well as being charged massive service fees, complimentary bread and even charges to use the olive oil on the table. Prague wasn't off to a great start but it was to get better through the form of an organised pub crawl, finishing up at the world-famous 5 storey nightclub. An hour of free absinthe shots to kick start the crawl & the drama from earlier in the night was quickly forgotten and the rest of the night was good, rowdy fun (ripped shirts to show for it) through the castle-filled city of the Prague old town.
The following day was decided by many to be a lazy day, with the majority opting to give the walking tours, theatre shows & bunker tours a miss, instead preferring to sleep in & play a sporting competition within the hostels facilities. Table tennis, beach volleyball, pool, soccer, sauna. A much needed rest day to laze around & recharge with a quiet night at the hostel bar with all the group listening to music and a few sneaky BYO bottles of vodka and absinthe from the local bottle-O ($5 Euro for a bottle of vodka, that's more like the prices we were expecting in Prague). A few mixed feelings from our Prague visit and after a lot of the hype & expectations, maybe a little disappointed, but all very fresh and looking forward to our next stop; a Saturday in Munich.
