So our first stop in NZ was Christchurch. Didn't actually get time in the end to visit the town. We had already organised the hostel accomodation and campervan pick up from Australia. The hostel was called Jucy which was also the biggest campervan hire company in NZ... They happened to have a free shuttle bus to the van depo.. so we naturally hopped on... after spending an hour of waiting, the shuttle journey and waiting in line it was our turn... handed him the receipt printout... turned out I had booked it through travellers autobarn... a seperate company... anyway they were pretty good about it and took us to the other depo for free. Happy days.
Oh well we'll do Christchurch on the way back.
The camper was plenty big enough, with a microwave, fridge, double hob and sink. Such a cleverly designed sleeping/living area although it wasn't really built in mind for two massive backpacks to fit in the van as well as us. The design on the outsides quite good as well, white white orange writing. Doesn't scream out poor backpacker too much like some of the bright green and purple Jucy vans do. It's actually really nice to drive. A lot easier than I thought it would. Although I wish they'd just put a manual gearbox in it! Especially with all these hills and steep climbs it has to do.
