Kya Travels
We got up this morning and went down for some breakfast, then packed up our stuff and checked out. We walked down the street to the bus stop where we waited for 10 or so minutes then jumped on the bus to the airport. We checked in and went through to the gate, much more relaxed than last time!!! As we went through the gates, Lyle was told his bag was too big and was told to put it in some hatch, but he totally ignored them and brought it on board anyway... Then proceeded to try shove it into the baggage compartments! That was kind of funny/embarrassing! But it was ok, cos I could pretend I didn't know him!! Haha! We got on the plane and waved goodbye to Tromso and headed to Oslo. I slept pretty much the entire flight, so it was a pretty quick one for me!! When we got into Oslo we made our way to the train station and got on a train to the city centre, which took about 20 minutes. When we got in we spent a bit of time working out where we were going then jumped on a tram outside the station to get to Anker hostel. We checked in, and chilled in the room for a bit with the guitar and a beer (only $7 from the hostel! Cheap, right?) then had a sleep for a couple of hours. When we woke up we went for a walk up to an area of town called Grünerlokka, which I had heard was a pretty cool part of town with lots of restaurants and pubs and market type places and that kind of thing. What I found wasn't what I expected though, it was more like a neighborhood rather than just a street like I had thought, and it wasn't cheap at all! We walked up and down the Main Street trying to find something for dinner, and ended up almost back at the hostel at a Turkish restaurant called Kapadokya. We ordered some food, not really knowing what we were getting as it was all written in norwegian! When they came out, they were absolutely massive! Huge portions! And delicious! I had felafels with burgul and salads. One of the salads was like pickled something... Maybe cabbage? Or red onion? I don't know, but it was delicious! We headed back to the hostel after that, where we hung out in the common room for a bit, trying and failing to connect to their ****** wifi! I had a read of their guest book they had out, (the English entries, anyway!), and there were a lot of entries about the place being gross and dirty and things being stolen... So it might not be the best place to stay, but it was one of the cheapest. In saying that though, that's Norway cheap, still at around $40 a night each!! Crazy! We went back up to the room, and chilled out and went to sleep. At least we were the only ones in the room so it was pretty good in the end.
