Kya Travels
Got up at about 9am, got ready, and went to the front of the motel, where we were met by The Happy Coach-a bus that did tours to Nimbin. A guy named Fred was the driver, and he was pretty crazy. We jumped on the bus, and went around and picked up a few more people – A guy from South Korea, a Spanish couple, our four American friends, and a disabled guy that was a regular. We left, and the bus trip was pretty cool, he played awesome music, and it was really fun. Our first stop was unexpected, Fred stopped the bus, and we got out, cause he’d seen a Koala. Then we got back on and went to Minyin Falls, and the lookout was great. Huge big cliffs, and trees, peregrine falcons and lots of cool things. We went back to the bus, and on the way, there was a big goanna by the barbeque. We got back on the bus and headed to Nimbin. When we got there, we went to the Fish and Chip shop for some food – chips/mexi-balls and a deep fried mars bar. Then we had a look in a few shops, and had a look through the museum, then went to meet a lady to get some cookies! She was showing us and telling us prices, when someone yelled “Taxi” (Nimbin codeword for cops). The lady left and so did pretty much everyone in the area, which looked pretty suss, and the cop walked around for a bit, then we went and had a look in a few more shops, then went to another guy who did them cheaper, and got 3 cookies. Went and bought a drink then went to the park to meet the American guys. We all had ½ a cookie, and went around a few more shops. The cookie didn’t have any effect on me, and Darren said it only made him feel a bit more relaxed. Then Darren got his palm read by an old man on the street, before we headed back on the bus. We had one more stop on the way back near Byron Bay, where we just went in someones backyard that Fred knew, where there was an awesome lookout over Byron Bay. Then we headed back into the town, and everyone got dropped off, and we got dropped off at the beach. We went for a walk along the beach, right round to the end of the cliffs near the lighthouse and back. There was a weird mini ocean next to the ocean. The water stopped, and then there was a dip in the sand that was filled with water again. Then we walked into the town, and went to a place called Asia Joe’s for tea, where we had a vege entrée plate of samosa/spring roll/crispy coconut tofu and for mains Malaysian satay/Indonesian Nasi Goreng. Then we walked back to the motel and watched a bit of TV before bed.
