Kya Travels
Got up about 8am, and finished packing, then got a taxi into the bus terminal at Surfer’s Paradise. Bought ourselves a couple of tickets for the bus to Byron Bay, then went and had Subway for lunch, had a look at a few shops, one where Darren bought not one, but 12 band t’shirts! Then headed back to the bus terminal and got on the bus. There were four American guys, and a massive Michael Jackson fan, and we spent the whole time talking about the differences between America and Australia among other things. We got to Byron Bay and caught a cab to the Sunseeker motel. Then we walked into town and had a beer at the Great Northern hotel, had a look in a few shops, and Darren bought a necklace. Then we went to a café called Twisted Sista and had some yummy risotto balls. Then went to the Beach Hotel, where there was a really cool Reggae band playing called Red Eyes. We hung out there for a while, then headed back to the Great Northern, where we shared a vegetarian pizza, played a few games of pool, then a guy named Wayne Evans started playing covers. Then the American guys from the bus met us and we met a kiwi guy named Shane, and we drank with them for a while. At about 11:30, the American guys left, and soon afterwards we left with Shane and went to go back to the Beach Hotel. We got there, and the bouncers wouldn’t let us in, because they were closing, (even thought their sign said 12:00 close) so we started walking back up to the Great Northern. A few shops up there were these guys riding bikes with carriages on the back, and we got a lift up to the pub. It was awesome! But when we got back to the pub, they were closed too, so we went across the road and got a pie each from the bakery, then got a cab back to the motel and went to bed.
