Kya Travels
We woke up this morning and I went down for some breakfast while Darren got ready. Then I went back up to grab the bags and we went down and met Keith, Lindsay and Abdul out the front of the hotel. We jumped in a couple of taxis and went to the train station, where Abdul gave us our tickets and we tipped him before saying goodbye. We found our train and our seats and settled in for the 7 hour trip to Marrakech. The four of us were in a 6 seater cabin, and at one stage there was a kid about 10 or so sitting with us and having a drum sesh with Darren. The boys were into their whiskey and coke on the train to make the time go faster too! When we got to Rabat (the capital), an older couple got on and had the seats with us. We had an interesting English/French/Arabic conversation with them for a while, and learnt a little bit about each other, and had a drum session with them too! The ladies beats sounded out of time or something, but then she used an empty coke can with one hand and the beats came out, which was awesome! We chatted on and off with them for the remainder of the train ride, which ended up being 8 hours, not 7! When we finally got there and got off the train, we got a hug goodbye from them, then went into the station to find our next guide. Ibrahim was there with a Geckos sign, and we went and said hi to him, and he took us across the road to where our hotel was. We had a chat and a joke around with him for a while, and filled in our forms for the hotel. This was a very nice place. It was a three star hotel, but felt like more! Ibrahim gave us a bit of a run down of the itinerary for the next few days and we asked if we could go see a Berber village, which he said he would organise for the next day, then he told us to have a relaxing night so we could do stuff tomorrow. He showed us the pool (yep, there's a pool!) then we said goodbye and went up to our rooms. We dropped off our bags and got changed then the four of us went down to have a swim and a feed! They had a restaurant by the pool, so we ordered some pizzas and drinks, but the boys couldn't wait for the food, so they jumped in the pool while we waited for the food. When it was ready they even served it up to us at the edge of the pool so we were able to eat and drink while sitting in the pool! Amazing! We ate, had an amazing swim and a chat then eventually headed back up to the rooms. We had a peek in the boys room, which had a balcony (jealous!), then went back to ours and watched some TV. We had organized to meet again for some drinks, but may have accidentally fallen asleep instead! Oops! But it's ok, because it turned out the boys did the same thing!
