We slept in a while today, then chilled out using the wifi for a bit before getting ready to go out. We walked down the stairs and when we got to the front door, we saw that it was pelting down! The rain was so heavy that the gutters were rivers! We put our hoods on and walked/ran as fast as we could without slipping over to the square up the street that was filled with tables and chairs covered with umbrellas. We went inside this place to get some lunch, but they were only a coffee place and didn't do food. So we put our hoods back on and ran around the corner to the next restaurant. We got a seat and had a flick through the menu, then as we ordered, they didn't have three of the things we asked for! No hot chocolates, no staropramen beer, and no mushrooms for the pasta! Lame! We got our meals anyway, which were much bigger than the pictures looked, and I ended up having to take most of my gnocchi home with me! After lunch, the rain had stopped and the sun was even peeking out, so we went for a walk again down to the mall, City Galleria, to do some shopping. It was a Tuesday and by the time we got there it was about 4pm, but all the shops were closed, it was quite strange... So we ended up going back up to the cinema and buying a ticket for another movie, Malavita. We had a couple of hours to kill before the movie, so we decided to do as the locals do and sit in a cafe, have a coffee and watch the world go by. It was very cool to see all the Croatian people sitting at their tables and actually talking to each other! No tables full of smart phone zombies, people were actually socializing! Apparently coffee shops are where everything happens, catch ups with friends, dates as well as business meetings. It was nice. We had a couple of hot drinks, and talked about a new pearl jam song which had the exact same lyrics in the opening line as one of Darren's songs. We were trying to figure out how to keep the song without people thinking Darren was ripping off Eddie Vedder. After a while we went down to the supermarket where Darren picked up some beers for the movie then we went back up to the cinema and found our seats. The movie was like a gangster action comedy type film and was pretty good. After the movie we went back to the supermarket and grabbed some apples and snacks then made the walk back to the old town and to the hostel. We hung out in the common room for a while eating some food, using the wifi and chatting to the receptionist who was watching some modern family. After a while I went to bed where I spent some time cleaning up my voice memos on my phone, while Darren went into the bathroom and set up a little recording studio in the toilet, so he could record a bunch of songs he's been working on! We were lucky enough to be the only people on this level of the hostel, so it was a good opportunity! Then eventually we went to sleep.
