Kya Travels
I woke up this morning when the boat stopped moving and was just rocking in the water with the engine off. I went outside to see what was happening and realised we had stopped for a swim! People were already in the water! I watched for a bit, then went to get my bathers on and went back out and up to the top deck. Apparently you have to jump in from the top of the boat if you want to go swimming! I got up there, and it was really scary! I hadn't seen anyone else do it, so it felt like I was the first one to do it! I got up the courage, with the help of one of the guys, Sam, who let me use him for balance as I climbed over the railing, then I took the plunge off the edge! The water was amazing, and even though the sun wasn't out, it was still great! The water was so beautiful and clear too! I chilled in the water on the ropes that the boat was tied to with Eillean and Melissa then after a while we headed back on board to dry off a bit before lunch. I had a quick shower, then woke Darren up in time for lunch. His foot was pretty sore from his fall, so he hobbled out to the deck and we got ourselves a seat where we chilled out and had a water and a chat with a couple of guys, Angus and Rithy while we waited for lunch to be served. We got some yummy lunch, and the crew remembered I was vegetarian, and had even sought me out to ask if I ate fish or not! Legends! So I got some good food too, then we chilled out with the guys, chatting and having a few beers until we arrived at our next little island destination, Trstenik. There was an optional wine tour you could do from this tiny town, which we decided not to do, so when we arrived we had a walk around with the few people left who didn't do the wine tour. It was a beautiful little town, surrounded by mountains and as it was a pretty cloudy day, it was very atmospheric! We walked with Kelsey and Sam for a while having a look at restaurants (it turned out there was only one in the whole town that was open and served food!) then we went with Angus into the towns tiny supermarket. The boys bought a couple of beers each then we went along the towns little rocky beach and found a ledge overlooking the water to sit and drink on. We chilled there for a while, chatting and listening to music, and at one stage I even fell asleep just listening to the waves, it was very relaxing! I was woken up by an old guy who had come down to the little 'pier' (or slab of rock) in front of us with a piece of rope, who started fishing for something. On his first cast, he pulled a little octopus out of the water! Crazy! Then he picked it up and started bashing it into the stone, brutally murdering it, until it stopped wriggling! Then he stabbed it with his giant pitchfork thing and kept on fishing! It was crazy, but I suppose it's their way of life here! He didn't catch anything else while he was there, then told us he'd try again tomorrow, before putting his pitchfork of octopus over his shoulder and walking off! The boys got a couple more beers each, then when the rest of the boat returned from the wine tasting, we were joined by Eilleen and Melissa and we all had some more beers together while having a chat and listening to music. It's crazy how similar mine and Eilleen's music tastes are! After a while we started heading back to the boat, as they were doing an optional BBQ that most people were doing. We decided not to have the BBQ as it cost 100 kuna each (~$20) and we couldn't justify that, especially for me, being vego!! So we said goodbye to everyone halfway back and went into the only restaurant in town. I still wasn't very hungry after the massive lunch they'd fed us, so I ordered a tomato soup and Darren ordered a pasta, and we had a chat with a local while we waited, and played with the neighbourhoods cats, which were everywhere! (Including some very cute and tiny kittens!) After we ate, we went inside to pay and realised the French Canadian group were in there, so we hung out with them and watched the rest of the ice hockey match that was on the TV, Zagreb vs Moscow. One of the waiters thought that Zagreb got a goal at one stage and threw his arms up in celebration, knocking a bunch of wine glasses from the rack and smashing them! And it wasn't even a goal! Pretty funny! After that we went back to the boat and chilled out in the bar with Angus for a while, until he fell asleep at the table! We got some photos of him while he was sleeping, then we went down to the room and got an early night.
