Today we decided to go up to a temple in the hills called Wat Doi Suthep. A tuk tuk drove us to a bus station where a little bus was stuffed with 14 people and then transported us up a very steep and winding hill. When we got to the temple we had to climb over 300 steps to reach the main building. The main attraction was a large gold pagoda and city views however we found this temple very touristy and didn't enjoy it as much as the others.
In the evening we got a tuk tuk to the night bazaar which was a huge market that spanned many streets and buildings and had a great atmosphere. We ended up going to a pizza restaurant which served amazing pizza, best we have a had in a long time that was situated in a square with lots of other restaurants and market stalls. We had a last wander around the market and found a food stall selling rotees which were like crepes but were made out of dough. We had a banana and chocolate rotee which was delicious and has now become Richards favourite dessert.
The next day we went to Warrorot market which was a very strange day market which sold fresh produce and anything else you could think of. It was a very strange atmosphere and you could tell it was definitely a locals market as I think we were the only tourists there! We decided to head back and visit the Chiangmai Art and Cultural museum which was very informative. In the evening we went to an Irish restaurant and had some some very nice home made burgers. We headed back home for an early night as we have a nice 4am start to catch our flight to Krabi.
