Today we took the train to Doonside and visited Featherdale Wildlife Park. The first thing we saw were wallabies walking around the park. You were able to go up to them and stroke them, and they were very friendly animals. One particular young wallaby took a liking to Richard and started to follow him around...they obviously realised he was part of their species!
We then went and saw the koalas which were again just in the open and were able to go and climb the trees and they had a koala out which you were able to stroke and take a picture with. They were very soft to touch but can apparently get quite angry if you touch their faces!
We bought some kangaroo food which consisted of an ice cream cone stuffed with grass, which the kangaroos seemed to like a lot. Again like the wallabies you were able to go up to the kangaroos and feed them, stroke them and take a picture with them. We even saw one with a little Joey in its pouch. We also saw a crocodile, wombats, Tasmanian devils, emu, dingo and many more.
Once back in Sydney we decided to explore the park which is opposite our flat which turns out to house Sydney's cricket ground and a rugby stadium. It also had a little shopping complex, a cinema and bowling alley. Although we were tempted by bowling or the cinema we decided that nibbles and a free bottle of wine on our balcony watching the sunset seemed like a better idea. Especially now Richard is off his antibiotics!
