Having spent a lovely time in New Zealand it was time for a change of scenery and on to our next destination...Vancouver, Canada! Our flight left New Zealand at 8pm Friday 4th and arrived in Vancouver at 13.15 Friday 4th! The time difference meant we got to relive the same afternoon twice, and gained time whilst travelling! We are staying with a lovely couple Katy and Mark at their home in Vancouver as part of airbnb, and our room is luxury especially having lived out of a car for the last month!
Our first afternoon was spent exploring Commercial Drive, an area not far from the house which has lots of lovely shops and cafés. The next day we woke up very tired, probably a bit jet lagged, and with very heavy rain outside! We got the train to the Waterfront and went on an attraction called Fly over Canada which is a 4D virtual experience. The experience put us in a huge domed screen which made us feel like we were flying over the country and there was even mist when you flew through the clouds and the smell of pine trees as you flew through the forest. It was a completely unique experience, and they should do it in all countries!
Later in the day we decided to go and watch the Vancouver Canarks play the LA Kings in a game of ice hockey! It was great fun even though we didn't understand the rules. By the end we had decided that there weren't many rules and they could pretty much do what that they liked. We even won the game in the last few minutes which was a bonus!
