Farewell Canada and hello America! We took the Amtrak Cascades train from Vancouver to Seattle and the journey was beautiful. You could see huge mountains in the background and the train went along the waterfront for much of the journey.

We arrived in Seattle late but the next day we made the most of our time starting at the famous Pike Place Market where we enjoyed a traditional American breakfast overlooking the water. After watching some fish throwing and a wander around the stalls we headed to the waterfront and walked past the numerous piers. We decided to take the ferry to Bainbridge Island, primarily because it gave us great views of Mount Rainier and the Seattle skyline. After a short time in Bainbridge we headed back to Seattle and walked through the Olympic sculpture park to the iconic space needle. We had a brief look around the shops and then we had dinner at a brewery where Richard enjoyed a small sample of their beers. After a long day out we headed home for a well deserved sleep...off to San Francisco tomorrow!
