Did a quick stop at Newman today to do some much needed washing and grab our next lot of groceries. The Perfects were also able to catch up with a couple of old mates which worked out well. Pulled up to camp last night and had some more repairs to do. Our camper is falling apart... one of the cupboard doors is laying in the camper floor amongst the red dust :) Our 12V lights are not working and Garry's engel plug needed re-wiring. Both camps had an early wake up with the kids this morning so we decided to make the most of it and get an early start. Had our first bush camp of the trip about 10 km's outside of the aboriginal community of Kintore. Found a Telstra communications tower off the road to camp around as the ground there is cleared from bushes and spinafex. Kids had another quick lesson on dangers of the bush before they helped collect firewood for the fire. We stopped at Ormiston gorge for a family tradition photo near the sign for me and we did the walk to the water hole. Beautiful spot, could have spent hours taking lovely scenic shots with the kids. Had a dingo walk straight past everyone at the waterhole, obviously used to tourists. Would be great to camp here and spend a few days exploring and doing the walks around the gorge.
