We spent the day doing a mixture of driving and walks............saw a seal colony with loads of baby ones!! Visited pancake beach before heading to Greymouth to buy costumes for the nights 'bad taste' p p p paarrrtttaaaaayyyyy! (thats how the driver says it!) The hostel we stayed in was sooo cool..they had photos of each bus that had ever visited for about the past 6 years (there is a bus every night!) tried to find tiffany in a pic but no luck!.........funny to think there will be a pic of me there now for years to come!!!! They also had loads of hats and things that people had left behind!!! looked a bit like the scene from wolf creek where the crazy guy has kept souveniers of all the people he has killed!!!! We had such a fun party! I went as a bit of a dodgy 80's bird with leopard print shirt and gold belt! had to down beer in the drinking games which wasnt good though! started to feel a bit sick from that..........i hate beer! by 12 i was exhausted!..............for some reason travellers always seem to be tired! sat 1st Headed for Franz Josef Glacier! Weather was supposed to be turning bad so we decided to do our heli-hike in the afternoon! The hike was brilliant..............helicopter ride was really good but its not until you get on the ice that you realise what you thought were tiny cracks are huge crevasses that you could fall down! we had proper talons on our boots to grip the ice and they even gave us an ice-pick!!!! After squeezing through some stupidly small gaps in the ice and climbing freezing waterfalls we were all getting a bit cold! the scenery was amazing but once my hands got completely numb i just wanted to get home! after carving our path through the glacier some people decided to jump into a glacier pool! as you can imagine it would have been very cold! there was no way i was doing that!..................and i think the others wished they hadn't afterwards!!! unfortunately my camera battery ran out and whilst trying to change it i dropped the spare one down a huge ice hole! there are a few photos to see but not as many as normal! sorry! we headed back to the hostel where i discovered my padlock had changed its code!.......i couldnt get anything from my bag!!!! after sorting that out i went in search of Laura and Janine!!!! Was sooo happy to see them! wish i had been at their party the night before!,,,Laura had dressed as a carrot!!! The best carrot ever according to the pictures!! Spent the evening catching up whilst eating a huge pizza and drinking lots of cheap wine!!!!
