After a really rough ferry crossing we arrived in the South Island!! Not much to do in Nelson...........lots of places in New Zealand are really quite! Had a great roast lamb and went for some wine tasting! Wed 29th Decided to stay an extra day to go kyacking in the Abel Tasman National Park..........Laura and Janine are running out of time in New Zealand so we had to say goodbye for a few days!!! so sad as its fun with those guys but i really wanted to kyack! murray was staying too so i wasnt alone! Kyacking was hard work as it was a full day but it was worth it just to see the baby seals....soooo cute!!!! On the way back i was sooo tired but luckily we had a huge sail which we tied to our paddles and we all held on to each others boats! we basically sailed the whole way back!!!! Back at the hostel i made friends with 2 really nice girls that had arrived in my room - mel and claire! had a bit of a girly goss and had an early night! Thurs 30th Woke up and wandered to the shower.........to find a huge tree in it!!! it was one of those moments where you think you might still be asleep!........but no.............it was definately there!!! somehow i stayed asleep while a drunk guy from our room had decided to try and plant a tree in our bathroom!! hmmmmmmmm!!! we spent the morning having a boat ride and a walk in the national park....then it was back on the bus.........which decided to break down!!! it was ok though as everyone on this bus gets on really well and the driver is hilarious! so we just chatted and ate hokey-pokey ice cream ( new zealand speciality - vanilla with honey comb)....hmmmm...lovely...for about 2 hours!!
