after getting to sleep at 2.30 am i woke again at 6am (gi jane!) to do the tongariro crossing. this is an 8 hour trek across a few volcanoes including mount doom from lord of the rings! not much to say except seriously hard walk with amazing scenery -worth the pain! - see pics! sun 19th well i deserved a quiet day so after watching janine do a sky dive we went to play crazy golf (i got a hole in one! - hooray!) took a walk to some natural hot pools for a soak - so hot though!!!! had a bacon sandwich ( i miss them so much!) and went out for a drink where we bumped in to some of the sky diving guys who were telling us about how one of them had a malfunction! oh my god! this is basically when the parachute does not open (they have a reserve!) but he had to land on the beach! luckily the guy he was taking down was japanese and didnt have a clue what was going on!!! mon 20th got up early to get on bus travelling to the east of new zealand! smaller bus which was nicer as more sociable! stopped at some small towns and where captain cook landed a long time ago! bit of a chilled day arriving at our new hostel.......a surf shack!!! after a walk on the beach we had a bbq and a quiet night!
