Wow, this trip has been truly amazing! We were blessed to have been able to spend time at Hogar Agape Children's Home. God provided for our team to take "Christmas" to them. Mattresses, sheets, shower curtains, towels, and of course Christmas toy bags and stockings for the children. The kids were so well behaved, thankful and enjoyed the sweet party. The little girls dressed up in their best little dresses and the little guys looked so handsome. With a language barrier, it was amazing how we understood one another through the language of love. The kids would run up to you and hug you so tight. They love fruit, especially apples and they rarely ever are able to eat them because they are so expensive here. One little boy was enjoying his apple so much, it was like pure gold to him. You could see it on his little face as he ate it and then something happened, we will never forget. This little boy walked over to my husband and offered him his apple! This little boy just wanted to give back and that's how he wanted to give. So unselfishly. That broke our hearts. It was no coincidence that God used that little boy to demonstrate to us the love God has for his children. WE ARE THE APPLE OF HIS EYE! This was a defining moment in our Christian faith that we will never forget!
Different portions of the 23 Psalm have been my theme scripture references this whole trip. At the orphanage, it was...."I shall not want...." These kids are so beautiful in their spirits, never complaining about what they don't have. They are so happy and content with a joy that is indescribable! They share with one another and don't fight over things. Scott played soccer with the little boys and I got to paint the little girls nails. It was wonderful. Brother Jack and Sis. Claire cheerfully distributed the gifts and were engulfed in a sea of hugs and adoration from the kids & staff at Hogar Agape. They are a mighty team that are doing great things on the mission field. Our church is so blessed to be a part of their lives, love them so much!
I have never seen such joy radiate from a human heart as it shined from those little children at the orphanage. A loving smile, a big bear hug, and a simple, "I love you" are the things that these kids long for, it's what they appreciate and what they will never forget. They will have my heart forever. Just wanted to share some pictures with you on our visit.
