A few "quickies" about Chile-
•Apparently there isnt a piece of corn anywhere on the Southern cone of South America. Even their "Mexican" (wannabe) food is all from flour. And worse, no one even understands what I mean when I try asking if it's made of corn... Bread. Everywhere is bread. And ice cream, despite the fact that it's freezing everyone is always eating ice cream.
• As sophisticated and advanced as Chile is compared to other countries in Latin America, it baffles my mind how everyone can smoke so much. And it's NOT lack of education. On each box of cigarettes is a different disgusting picture of the effects such as a dead fetus in a womb, an "incompetent" man, shriveled lungs, and more. All over the streets, everyone is smoking, inside restaurants and bars, I can't escape it!! Last night I met a woman (chain smoker) who has 2 young children and works as a midwife... I dunno how I feel about her teaching pregnant women to be healthy.
•Dogs. Everywhere!! Poor, hungry, dirty dogs all over the street. It's so sad, I hate it. One day, I bought dog food and walked around to feed them... I want to take them all home!! Except in Valparaiso they're kind of like mafia dogs, like some own some streets and when other dogs come or a car passes they go A-wall.
BASICALLY, Santiago is for mature, sophisticated, peaceful working adults. Valparaiso is for the artsy-fartsy, passionate and expressive soul. I liked Chile but I'm not dying to stay like I was in Colombia.
