San Diego, California
*sniff, sniff* I smell McDonalds fries, Starbucks coffee, and a slightly salty Mission Bay breeze. I'm home!!! I can't believe it. Actually, that's not true. I believe it but I can't believe I was just in Latin America for 5 months. I can't believe I was sweating on the Caribbean, shivering near the Andes and drinking coconut water on Copaca…
kim good job krispy... hope your adventures back in the US are just as interesting to write about as they have been here! miss you & and take care of yourself! till we meet again :)
re: Mexico City, MexicoDanielle These schools sound fantastic. It must be amazing to have had the chance to visit so many of them and know that someone you are related to established them all. I'm surprised though that the sisters allowed the dancing in the gym to your ipod music (or was that done behind closed doors?) lol
re: Mexico City, MexicoDanielle I'm mesmerized by the photos you put up. I think of all Mexico much like I remember Tijuana being, but this just shows the difference. I want place names so I can plan a trip soon!!! For me the travel bug came back after less than 6 months of being back in the US! lol. I leave for Costa Rica on Thursday, which I am SO looking forward too, but I want to see something new! (and cheap! lol)
re: Mexico City, MexicoDad How about for your next travel itch you try coming to Phoenix? We have quite a few spanish speakers here :)
re: Mexico City, MexicoKrissy Yes it has been an amazing experience, Im learning a lot from these girls. Now Im here in Mexico and working on a new blog. It´s coming soon, I promise!
re: Brasilia, BrazilMadre Awesome blog daughter! Grandma will love it. I am SOOO glad you are seeing this in person. I haven't even had that opportunity and Grandma didnt until MANY tears after Uncle Al started. Now when you read Grandma's book, you will really undertstand everything. I hope you get to visit the one in Mexico. Grandma said that facility is incredible. Glad you are having so many great experiences. Can't wait to see you in 5 days!!!
re: Brasilia, BrazilDanielle Wow. It just shows you how spoiled we are and that we expect so much here. These girls are just so happy to have an education. I always find that kids are so much happier in poorer countries. When I used to work with small children in Tembisa in South Africa, it was the same. They were also so happy to see us. Privileged children just don't get as happy for life.
re: Brasilia, Brazilkaren what an awesome experience....love it!
re: Brasilia, BrazilDanielle Soooo, what's the word from the rest of Brazil? I read your facebook status that it is changing your perspective of Brazil, but give us some details woman!
re: Rio de Janeiro, BrazilDanielle Wow. I think this is one of your most well thought out and presented blogs to date. It might not be something funny or dramatic like most, but it presents the country in a way you have yet to do. My other comment is: If South Africa could get ready in time for the world cup, having to build 4 or 5 new stadiums, new roads, means of transportation and hotels to house everyone, Brazil can definitely do it. They already have vastly touristy areas, which as a whole South Africa lacks. I think you could probably look at S.A. today and apply it's current status to what Brazil will be like after the World Cup: sadly, nothing changes.
re: Rio: Past, Present and FutureDanielle Um I have one comment: Why haven't I seen a picture of these hideous sandals yet???
re: Hate to love and love to hateRicardo Soares hahahaha, a lot things to learn, I actually learnt with it too! =P
re: Rio de Janeiro, BrazilDad Be safe and enjoy every last minute of your trip. Vamos :)
re: Rio de Janeiro, BrazilKrissy Ya... I will miss wandering and seeing new things BUT in San Diego (the best place in the world), there are a LOT of things to do and a LOT of interesting new people all the time. And also, now everytime I drive my car on a smooth road where people stay in the lines, I will be grateful :-)
re: Hate to love and love to hateDad Clearly the positives outweigh the negatives - vamos :)) I'm betting when you are home you will miss your travels. Love you
