We were told yesterday when we arranged our mini bus that it would be there to get us at 6am. We packed up the majority of our stuff and set our alarm for 545am today. At 550am Tan was at our door to tell us the driver was there. This led to a slight rush to get the remaining items into our bags and to the street. We climbed into the minibus which is a large minivan with seats for the driver and ten passengers. The bus drove around picking up people from other resorts and when we were full we crossed two ferries and made it to mainland. After three hours of driving and flying over huge bumps in the road that made us come out of our seats, everyone was dropped off and the driver was slowing reading signs doing a few u turns and stopping to talk to people. This made us a little worried we would be dumped in the middle of nowhere. Eventually he found the minibus tourist place he was looking for and dropped us off.
Here we were told we were the first bus of the day and very very early for the Khao Sok minibus. Our bus didn't leave until 1130. This gave us two hours to kill so we ate and read our thailand book, checking out places in the north to see when we are with Michelle and Jason. Who we meet up with on Bangkok in two days!!
Once our hurry up and wait session was over we were loaded into the next minibus and were off to Khao Sok. The start of the drive was nap time but once we were closer there would be no naps! We were heading up the side of a mountain. It was the most amazing road and I wish I had my bike on it! Constant turns and switchbacks going up for awhile then down. It seemed to never end. Looking out the windows on either side were large limestone cliffs and massive trees. Looking around makes you think it is a scene from a movie that makes you say "wow, maybe one day we will go there".
We arrived at "our jungle house resort" and were shown to the honeymoon treehouse. It is literally a treehouse. It's so cool. Looking out the back we see a river and a massive massive limestone cliff you can barely see the top of. We are surrounded in huge trees and now that it is night time, crazy insect noises and who knows what kind of big scary creatures!!
We ate at the restaurant and checked our email. We do have wifi in the lobby. We also checked out tours for tomorrow and booked a one day trip with a one hour longtail boat ride on the famous lake, three hour jungle hike, canoeing, and swimming.
We also ordered up our very first Thai massages since we have been here! They are so affordable and our backs hurt so we decided hell yes!!
It was awesome. They get right in there with knees and elbows. Sometimes it hurt sometimes it felt great. It was the most relaxing environment for a massage ever! One little lamp on so our room was very dim. Our room as in our tree house. It was raining steadily on our canvas roof. It was perfect! We will be doing that again that's for damn sure!!
