Back in Chiang Mai
The girls were feeling well enough to travel and ready for a change if scenery. We took a 1230 mini bus from Pai back to Chiang Mai. The mini bus was super fast and we made it in 2.5 hours. This was due to the fact that our driver was insane. All mini bus drivers are insane and pass other vehicles going into blind S corners. The way to tell you have an especially crazy driver is when he passes other crazy mini bus drivers!
The scenery was amazing and if it weren't for so many crazy people behind the wheel it would be motorcycle heaven for me! The longest straight stretch the whole drive was about 100 meters. The whole road was constant S curves and switch backs going uphill and downhill.
Once we made it to Chiang Mai we checked into our guest house we stayed at last time we were here.
The girls were hungry so we went for dinner then came back here. They rested for a bit while Jason and I played a game of chess. I didn't do as horribly as I thought i would!
After the girls napped we went out to a restaurant and hung out for a bit. Jason and I noticed a soccer game playing on tv next door so we went to watch it while the girls went back to eagle house.
After the game we went back to our rooms and called it a night.
Today we got up and Jason and I went for breakfast to the same restaurant that had soccer on last night and guess what? International friendly between England and France. So we ate brought the girls croissants and went back for coffee and finished watching the game.
After it was over we decided to do a river tour. We were picked up by a mini bus and taken a few mins away to the river. We were loaded onto a big longtail boat and driven down the river. It was relaxing and nice since the girls were able to get out of the house and do something.
Afterwards we went for dinner at a disappointing restaurant then to the night market one last time. I bought fake Birkenstocks for ten bucks that broke in 20 mins. I found out after we left the market and were sitting at a bar. The girls went back to eagle house while Jason and I went back to talk to the lady I bought them from. I was expecting her to turn us away saying final sale blah blah. Once we showed her the strap was never installed properly she gave me a new pair with no fight.
Jason and I had to try hard to find a tuk tuk for a decent price and decided when we got back to play a joke on the girls. We made up a story about the lady being mean and not giving me new sandals etc. Once they felt bad enough we laughed and told them we got a new pair no problem. It was a jerk move but pretty funny for Jason and I.
Once we made it back to eagle house it was off for a night time snack down the street then home for bed.
Tomorrow will be a sad day. Up and packing our bags then spending our final day in Thailand here in Chiang Mai. When we leave we will have a one hour flight to Bangkok, couple hours at the airport, 12 hour flight to Amsterdam, 6 hours at the airport, then an 8 hour flight to Toronto. It will be a long journey home!
This morning we woke up and packed. Sad day today. We are checked out of our room and being squatters in Michelle and Jason's room. We wet down the street for a nice big breakfast and came back to finish up packing. The rest of the day will be spent possibly going to a temple up on a big hill overlooking Chiang Mai. The girls will most likely get manicures and massages and enjoy the last of their time together for another who knows how long before Michelle comes home.
