New update from Rio - we´re half way through our stay in Rio, so thought Id give an update before Carnival begins because thats going to be madness!

OK!

So we arrived in Rio last week to a hostel called Lemon Spirit which was so lovely, nice change to one of our hostels in Ilha Grande! We then stayed there for 5 nights and met such a nice bunch of people.

So our first night we just chilled out and ate about 10 million tuns of beaf from the bbq which was good and crashed out! The next few days were so rainy so that was abit poo but we made the most of it. Our first night out we went out to a place in Rio called Lapa - which is soooooooooooo dodgy! But so much fun, we went with a big group from the hostel of mostly older guys (we seem to be the youngens out here!) - its just full of ozzies and americans! But yes so we went to Lapa, like slap bang in the middle of the ghetto it was hardcore! But an experience none the least, and we went to this hip hop club...like a scene out of save the last dance - right up my street! LOVED IT! so much fun! So yes, a scary...but amazing night! Think Lapa is a one and done place though!

Next day we went to the footy! Also amazing but very scary! hehe
The game was The Flamengos v Botofogo....local game, pretty big match in the Maracarana (or something like that...!) stadium! Again, went with the guys from the Hostel and this really nice ozzy girl whos gonnna put us up i sydney which is cool! Game was 1-1, we were surporting the flamengos (shirts in the píc!) who were losing 1-0 down from 5 mins in, but then scored in the last 30 seconds of 3 mins of extra time! AWESOME! But caused alot of problems and riots broke out after which was pretty crazy! we went out the Stadium, and these guys were having a mental fight on the street which the police tried to go and break up by wacking them with battons...the guys then proceeded the kick them back...police on horces came....police in helicopters with guns came nearly landing with there huge guns out ready to shoot! Everyone pegged it running to join in this massive ball...i grabbed sian and ran with her out the way and managed to find shelter! scary as anything...and police everywhere. Then after we heard a massive bang which we all thought was a gun shot but we think it hopefully was firecrackers, or a car back firing! ahhhhh, scary times! but wicked experience!

Following day - sunshine came into our lives, wooo! The tanning could start to commence! WE went to see christo - which youl be able to see in the photos - pretty impressive! Speaks for itself really!

Oh and talking of meeting all these cool people - was writing down my email for this really posh guy out here. wrote the word corbett, and he was like, wait - you know willow?! RANDOM! so met someone who knows a corbett winder! He went to school with her, nice guy!

Ummmmmmmm what else, ok - that night i got abit ill and slept all evening. not ,much fun!

Then the next day....SUNSHINE AGAIN! WOOOOOO! We went to the beach, and Im soooooooooooooo brown! At last, gorgeous beach - which is all designated by posts, we went to ´posto 9´which is apparently for the hot people, which is very true ,lots od speedos, and lots of thongs! Beautiful people....we fit right in!I think i fell in love about 50 times! Ha ha! Post 8 is apparently for gay people, 10 is for single, 11 is for posh etc....pretty funny! But yes, stunning strunning beach, had some coconut drinks straight out the coconut, most refreshing drink ever, bliss. Literally felt like i was in heaven! Unfortunatly no photos from the beach, wont be much form Rio at all really, to dangerous to carry a camera around - being the street wise girl that I am, super careful! If ever i do have my camera memory card is out and in my bra! same for money! with 50 riass to give them if i get mugged in my pocket!

Our last night in Lemon spirit we went out with everyone from the hostel , and metr some more aussies who are again going to put us up! Brilliant night, and now we´re here in our Carnival Hostel, let the madness begin - staying in Copacabana now, not artsy posh Leblon so keeping our wits about us, but partying hard. 24 bed dorm is amazing, hot tub, ROAST DINNERS. I LOVE THIS HOSTEL! But yes, again lots of aussies...i think i want to move to austrailia and marry one. I love them!!!
