Hellloooo
It's me again.
It's a new me.
Why?
I have PHOTOS.
Yes I know you were all having Kris withdrawals... they will soon be cured (sort of).
We've been in KL (Kuala Lumpur for all the geographically impaired out there - that rhymes... *self
props*) since the 30th and we'll be heading out to Penang (Malaysia) tomorrow. SO much more to do in KL than in Singapore.. the difference is amazing.
We are staying at Hotel Chinatown Inn which is centred right in the middle of Chinatown. Think Paddy's markets on steroids ... and not just isolated to the weekend... EVERYDAY. Markets are open from 10am to around 11pm and sell everything from clothes to DVDs to watches to fruit to NUTS (no not man nuts.. but CHEST nuts... oh self props again). I've purchased myself a pair of Nike Air Max for 120RM (~45AUD). They were initially 140RM and I "bargained" the guy down to 120RM.. as soon as he agreed to that price I knew I had sold myself short. Oh well. I've lived. I've learnt.
I have footage of the markets which I hope to edit and upload sometime soon. Then you can all live the madness that is KLs Chinatown!
Now for Thaipusam. A Hindu festival where devotees celebrate the birth of a Lord Murugan and the vanquishing of the evil demon Soorapadman. Every year pilgrims fast and pierce themselves with 'Vels' in an offering of thanks. This year we were 2 in amongst a million pilgrims making our way to the top of the Batu Caves where the pilgrims pay homage at the Sri Subramaniam temple inside. One WHITE person and ONE brown person in amongst a million black people! We got there and seemed like the ONLY tourists to have made the brave trek.
Don't believe me?
Check it out for yourself.

It was amazing and I am glad Karina and I went to the festival. Very colourful. Very cultural. Very intense. The head dresses that some of the Indians were wearing/carrying were simply amazing. The standard bearers all seemed to be in some kind of trance... I guess you would need to be to endure the kind of pain a conscious mind would experience with the piercings and/or head dresses that they had been wearing.. and that they would have carried up the 272 steps to the top.
Look at these crazy indians!

Hahahhaha Look at the crazy asians (these were the only asians we saw taking the pilgramage... I rationalised that they were just using the festival as an excuse to get high ;) )

Seeing that we didn't get home till ~6am... we woke up ~10 hours later :P Browsed through the markets some more and decided to train it to KLCC. At first I intended to go there for the shopping centre... but little did I realise that we were beneath the Petronas towers! Karina took some great photos of them:

We didn't get there early enough to travel to the sky bridge that exists between the two towers. BUT who needs a view of Kuala Lumpur when you have a view of me ;) Kris Lopez.. the one and only KL. MWHAHAHA *self props AGAIN*
LOL I also have the funniest footage of this fat asian man posing in front of the towers. See what South East Asia has done to me? It has brought out my discriminatory side. I've made fun of Asians.. asians... and now fat people! What's next :)
Today will be our last day in KL... we managed to visit a few places: Butterfly Park, Little India (Little is an understatement... it should be called Miniscule India), and Merdeka Square. I took some photos of the turtles in Butterfly park.. hahaha go figure.

The coincidences of travel... while typing this email two Australian girls occupied the computer to my side. Seeing that I wanted to also see what KLs nightlife had to offer I curiously enquired. They noticed my accent and gathered I was from Australia. Cool.
Where were they from? Bankstown, Sydney, Australia. Not f***ing cool. CREEPY. Why are people stalking me... which one of you sent them to stalk me? I will find out who they are. I've seen enough CSI Miami to figure it out. I will find out who sent them.. and when I do... you will PAY!
We'll be off to Penang tomorrow. More to come. Hopefully I will be able to get some footage up for ya'll.
