Ah ah ah ah STAYIN' ALIVE.
Although Langkawi, Malaysia would be a nice place to be laid to rest... especially seeing thats what many people do here... rest.
While the locals have been resting I have been exploiting the Spanish/English influence that courses through my veins. Let me explain.
I am half Peruvian and half Australian. My Peruvian side descends from Spanish lineage (seeing that Spain conquered most of South America) and my Australian side descends from English lineage (seeing that England conquered a defenceless Australia!). Upon arrival a side to me that I have never seen before awoke... a need to conquer. CONQUER.
Kuala Lumpur was easy. I arrived in Kuala Lumpur and half the job was done for me. Everyone referred to it as KL. I just had to re-educate people that KL stood for Kris Lopez... showed them my drivers license and voila. Kuala Lumpur belonged to me.
Langkawi was a little tougher... although there are the letters K and L in its name... I strategised, recruited and dominated.

The result: me standing in the water with my arms out wide in a performance inspired by Mel Gibson's Apocalypto (BRUTAL). Hehe
Langkawi is BEAUTIFUL. Its hard to find the words to describe Langkawi .. but who says I cant try ;) A little excerpt from my writing:
I sit here and feel. The soft white sand falling through my toes. The rhythm of the water soothing. Waves caress the shore. The endless infinite of the horizon guarded by two islands covered in trees. The bright blue sky offers hope for even the greatest of pessimists. Life surrounds and smothers you here in Langkawi.
:) I bring to you... Cenang Beach, Langkawi

The water is light clear blue and you can see small schools of fish swim by as you wade your way along the coast. As the sun sets hermit crabs make their daily commune to the water from the shore. Its a frantic race for these crabs! Standing in the water you feel crabs underneath your feet and running over your feet. Karina, lover of all living things small, found another friend... Nippy!
http://www.statraveljournals.com/klopez/photos/SNV32924.jpg
Nippy was quite the adventurous hermit crab who was eventually returned to the Rat Race... errr I mean Crab Race... Oh the irony! The crabs also make the same race in the morning... before 9.. and the above pic was taken... YES.. AFTER 5.
Lets see.
Rat Race = Humans 9 to 5
Crab Race = Crabs 9 to 5
Crabs = Humans?
Wooooo!
Karina has a penchance for small fluffy animals (and small scaly cephalopods :P). Every cat we walk past gets fed and/or pat and/or given a name. We've bumped into Matilda, Suzie, Roxanne, Thomas, Mildred, Veronica, Joanne and Gloria! Hahahahaha. I hired a car yesterday (for 50RM.. ~20AUD) to tour Langkawi Island. On our way to visit a Langkawi waterfall we bumped into a family of Monkeys. Karina's 'fluffy radar' sounded and I stopped the car. Karina hopped out of the car with her camera ready. Got REAL close and took the following photo:

How cute! Right? WRONG. After this photo she took a few steps closer. A few steps too many. The monkey CHARGED her..... LOLLLLLLLLLLLL It raised its arms, snared its teeth and ran at her. What followed was the funniest thing I have seen in a LONG TIME. Karina reflexively jumped backward onto the road, and started crawling across the road, screaming and in a panic. Her legs ceased to function and she was army crawling! HAHAHAHAHHAHAA By this stage I was pissing myself and the monkey had reset its position along the side of the road. Karina started cracking up at how disabled she had become in the middle of the road. She was 'protecting her camera'. OK
I WAS FILMING THIS SCENE. BUT. When the monkey charged I had s*** myself as well. The camera detected too much movement and the video was corrupted. When I tried to retrieve the footage the camera automatically removed it. F!#K. It would have been the funniest clip. Watching the monkey in the above photo charge at Karina and to watch her flip like a fish out of water in the middle of a road in Langkawi!
Hahahahhahahahahha.
For the concerned out there. No it did not bite her. :)
After that we made our way to Langkawi falls.. with a new fear. A fear of monkeys. They have these beady orange eyes which now freak us out. When we got the falls there was one monkey near the car. When I turned to get out it was RIGHT NEXT TO ME. I paused a bit.. but then regained my masculinity:
Me: Don't worry Karina. If it comes close I will kick the F**K out of it with my Nike Air Maxs
Karina: Look at you all tough right now
Me: Its the power of Castle Greyskull
Karina: You're my He-Man
(To be fair to Karina... she did'nt really say I was her He-Man... but somewhere in the vast wells of her sensate mind she sure did feel it ;) )
Langkawi falls were beautiful. I have footage of the waterfall.. although not much of a waterfall at the moment seeing that we are coming into Malaysia's dry season. Nonetheless there were photo opps:

I look so pretty!
Mwahhahahahahahhaha.
OK
Time for the Fast Food report. At McDonalds I have had the following:
* Chicken Prosperity Burger
* Grilled Chicken Foldover
* Spicy McChicken Deluxe
* Cheeseburger Deluxe
* Orange Peach McFlurry
* Red Bean McFlurry
Doesn't that just blow your mind! PROSPERITY BURGERS. I am going to live forever.
I've had Zinger burgers in Singapore and Malaysia. Australia still wins out. I drove into the main town on Langkawi Island (Kuah town) and made an amazing discovery. Langkawi KLG Fried Chicken:

Right across the road from a KFC. I ate here with humour my sole motivation. KLG! Was it better than KFC? Hmmm the verdict: No. It was certainly cheaper though. Two burgers and two drinks for 10RM (4AUD). Now I just have to find a McRonalds and Pizza Hate and my life will be complete.
And some miscellaneous photos for ya'll:

Karina and I went to the night markets near Cenang Beach. Being there made me realise that South East Asia is three steps ahead of the Western world. Why? AMERICAN PIE 6. Hahaha. Time for me to wander back along the beach and find myself some food. Although we have to lay off the sugar.. its not doing us much good:
