Sydney is a bustling metropolis! Very different from the pace of the other cities we have been in. We were discussing that this has been four very different mini vacations mushed together. Today we rode the ferry to the Sydney Opera house under the Harbour bridge. That was amazing! The tour of the opera house was interesting. They started pouring the foundation for it before even knowing how to build the roofs. they ended up going from an intial bid of 7 million to 102 million. someone had their figures whacked. We also went around the Royal Botanic Garden but we weren't there very long as we think we saw a funnel web apider. that is one os Sydney's most poisonous spiders. mom wanted to get out of there pretty quick. He didn't jump off his web though and chase us down the street though!
We walked around the Rocks historical district where the early settlers started out. Historical with all the buildings about the same height. you can tell from the harbor where the rocks is versus the modern areas.
Tonight we had some amazing food at Olivio. The australian beef is almost as good as Minnesota beef. We are staying in the darling harbour area. It is lots of cafes, bars, and shops. Easy to get around with a pedestrian bridge over the harbour. Yes, it is harbour, kerbside, tyres and colour. They spell the english way not the american. Sometimes strange to see. We will be happy to see the stars and stripes on saturday.
