This week I met Rose off her plane. Awesome to see a familiar kiwi face who spoke normally! Since then we have done a lot of catching up on sleep - her, with the excuse of jet lag and me just being lazy hehe. Today we went into the city centre, a little freaked out when there was a bomb scare in the centre at 3am this morning, to be tourists.
We attempted to watch the changing of guards but couldn't see much more than the funny tall black hats... we then walked to the Tate Britain. Setting out in the sunshine and ending up talking shelter in a little dairy from the heavy downpours... saturated and envious of all the other people who all seemed to have umbrellas or at least a sweater we checked out the Turner exhibition.
Emerging into sunny weather yet again we had the joy of lining up for over an hour to go on the London Eye. The views were awesome though, even if I was the only one in the capsule who seemed to find it completly terrifying to walk to the edge... It sure was high!
The most amusing part of the day would have to be our train ride(s) home. We (I should really say'I') found out which train to get on, sat down and spent the first 30 mins chatting away. It was then that we realised that not only did the scenery not lok familiar but our stop should have been at least ten minutes before...
The lady in front kindly informed us that the train did not go to our stop and that we should probably get off at the next station... it was a pity that the train was a fast train so didn't stop very often. Eventually we ended up totally out in the country and after informing our wonderful hosts they told us "Get off now or you will end up in France..." Quite an adventure, just a little 2 hour detour into the country...
